That has been the most important thing in my desition about the x-color.
There is no way, in my opinion, that any of us can be sure NOT carring the rececive gene of the x-color.
Just the fact that our wellknown Niros Dunder probebly are a x-carrier and that there is a lot's of cats after him. One of them is Pan's Polaris. How many don't have him in their pedigrées?
We still have many cats with unknown cats behind and what do we know about them??? Do you think that the forest cat ask his "lover" ;- Are you a NFC female before he mate her???
In the lines of the x-color that we have here in Sweden today there has been no one that show any sign of an other breed. They are all very good looking NFC in their standard.
And if we should take out of breeding all cats that can be enventually carriers of the x-color then we will minimize our breeding base and then we either have to start with inbreedings or we have to except a lot's of novise offsprings. From them we don't know anything...so what's best??? Keep on breeding on good looking, healthy and with a lovely temper NFCs, witch we know a lot about or do we want to start over from the beginning again???
In my opinion the color has less importans then qaulity of the coat. We have deside once that ALL colors are permited... What are cinnamon and fawn? For me it's just that...a color!!!
It is reasonable to suppose that the gene is widely spreed in the NFC population and probebly since long time ago.
So that's why I don't want or can quarantee that I don't have the rececive gene of the x-color in my pedigrées. I have been breeding with this lines since 1994 and I have more than 100 kittens from this lines and I have never had a x-colored kitten. That shows me that you can be breeding a lot's of generations without getting it but I still can't be sure that my kittens don't carry the x-gene...because I know that there is probebly carriers behind them.
So I don't understand that anyone can quarantee that they don't carry the x-color when they have wellknown carrier in their pedigrées???
So if you want a quarantee of Noncarrier of the x-color don't look in my cattery...
